Isn't she cute? Mark often lets her have the run of the barn so she doesn't have to be cooped up all the time.
Well, this is where the story gets interesting. Nathan's roommate at school has a petite pet bunny named Mosey, because he's always moseying around. Nathan took Diva back with him a month ago on a short week so he could show off our ginormous rabbit.
Fast forward to this past Saturday. Out in the barn Nathan came upon something rather interesting behind Mark's oil drums. See picture below:
Yes, that would be a rabbit's nest. And yes, it's filled with at least 6 babies as far as we can tell. To quote Hannah, "I blame Nathan." We are thinking that His roommate should have to pay child support. My pictures aren't very good, but here's Mark holding one of the babies. They can already hop!
As if this story wasn't crazy enough, 2 weeks ago Mark accidently ran over a nest of wild rabbits out in the field. As soon as he realized what he'd done he checked to see if any had survived. One had so Mark scooped it up and took it to the barn and put it in the kennell with Diva. Diva wasn't too happy, bit it's little behind and the baby scurried out between the bars of the cage.
Evidently that little guy/girl (who's been named Nugget) has taken a liking to the barn because several times Mark has seen it hop back into the cage for food. So now there's a dish set out for it in the barn along with a little bowl of water. I witnessed Nugget eating and drinking this weekend and he's totally unphased if Mark gets close to it him.
We're now calling Mark the bunny whisperer. Bless his heart, there are rabbit droppings from one end of his barn to the other! If we're not careful we'll be able to right our own version of Watership Down. I tried to read that book when I was younger and hated it. Now I think we're living it. :)

Oh Leigh....you are just the collector of strays. So am I. We adopted a kitten from the animal shelter. His name is Hudson and he is 11 weeks old. He is an orange tabby cat. Janae kept telling papa "I want my own kitty" and there you have it, she has her own kitty. Now why doesn't that work for me?
Your bunny is adorable and I'm sure the babies are too! I am surprised Nugget survived.
Well it appears you won't be dealing with an "empty nest" syndrome as you're building a whole new family!
Good grief. I blame Nathan too! BTW...have you hired a bunny-sitter for your vacation???
Jill
Mark as the bunny whisperer. Now that made me laugh.
You'd better not let Nathan be the bunny sitter. Who knows what kind of animals, or how many, you would have when you returned?
Looking at bunny's picture I was thinking it might be nice to have a bunny. They are so cute. When I read about all the droppings, the cuteness quickly faded.

I love it!!! McKenzie is already to come and pick a few out. (i dont think so)
You have to tell Mark, that as I was reading the post and looking at the pictures, Bill was looking over my shoulder and says "that looks like a containter of John Deere anti freeze." Is that not a farmer for ya?? He doesnt comment on the bunnies, but on the John Deere:)
Barb that's hilarious!
Leigh, we have chicken whisperers here, so if we ever need to congregate large flocks of fowl and rabbit, we'll hook up. Hey, we could fee the world! HEHHEEH
Ginny...any more news?????
Love you all
Does this mean that you and Mark are now "Grammy and Grandpy"? ~Crista :>)
