Don't ya just love discovering something about someone you thought you knew inside and out that takes your relationship to a whole new level?!? This would be the case with my gal pal, Barb. Friday night we were walking to our cars after watching her lovely daughter Samantha crowned Homecoming Princess when we discovered our great, and mutual, love of driving over walnuts.
Yes, I'm serious, although Barb has been snickering about this for 5 days straight. Does anyone else out there think the sound of a tire rolling over a walnut is truly one of life's greatest simple delights???
I am a little worried about something though. Now that I know Barb's out there trying her best to run down renegade walnuts my hobby has turned into something of a sport. I'm convinced Barb has hit more than I have this Fall and every time I miss one my disappointment mounts. I'm afraid we're going to start keeping score and then my competitive nature will compel me to exaggerate my results.
Someone somewhere might need to stage an intervention before I take out a row of mailboxes while swerving for my targets! :D

Oh, this is to much fun! I love to run them over too!!! Who knew that the smallest things can cause great joy?!?! There are a ton on 14th St by my house if you feel the need. Enjoy the crunch of walnuts my friends!
You guys are HYSTERICAL. My HUSBAND does this and I think he's, well, nuts! (ar ar)
At my folks' condos they have walnuts and pine cones all over, and Doug will swerve to hit them. I thought it was just him. I didn't realize this was something other people actually did!
Oh my goodness. You should have been on C Avenue this morning after the winds last night! Walnuts were everywhere! Pop Pop Pop Pop....
I ran over a branch about 8 inches in diameter!!! Yikes.....that was a BIG noise!
Do you also like to run over the clumps of snow left from the snow plows?
That's just nuts.
I prefer to run them over with a lawnmower. Safety goggles and helmet highly recommended.
You two should not be allowed to hang out together anymore.
That's all I have to say about it.

Girls, I'm thrilled to report that God gave me an amazing number of hits today! Truly, my cup runneth over. I'm sure a man following me this afternoon must have thought I was drunk due to all my swerving. :)
I might have to plan a drive-by on 14th Street - thanks for the heads up, Jen! I appreciate your willingness to share.
And yes, Laura, I LOVE to hit snow clumps - I'd forgotten that one but since we're supposed to get snow on Monday I'm sure it will all come flooding back.
Love ya, girls!
WHAT??!! Snow on Monday?! Oy vey! I hadn't heard that...I'm SOOOOOOO not ready for snow!!!
If it snows for the retreat, I'm not sure I can go. :D

Ok, I already shared this with Leigh, but thought I would share with all........
Shame on you Barb and Leigh, do you know how much of a mess walnuts make when they are all smashed up!!! I am so not into walnuts since Ron and I took at least 5 wheel barrow loads out of our small arena and one of our pastures. That was before all the wind we had this past week, we now have another 2 or 3 more wheel barrow loads to take out again!! That is unless Barb and Leigh want to come and get them, so they can run over them in a much safer area like the church parking lot!
This just makes me laugh out loud:)
Can I tell you all how truely thrilled I was, when I shared my walnut secret with Leigh, and to my delight, find out that she too enjoyed it!!!
I have been on a mission this week. And yes Laura, after the winds the other night "it was on" for smashing walnuts:) McKenzie and I have had a blast, wondering the entire time, if Leigh was out there doing the same thing!!!
We are a little nuts arent we?? ha-ha.
Jill~Cant wait to see you this weekend. Lets pray the snow holds off:)
Oh Yeah-
Shawn, I think we should dump wheel barrow loads in the parking lot at church and have walnut smashing races. Doesnt that sound like fun? I bet you would do it to, with your competitive nature and all:) Although, it could get ugly.
love ya!
With Doug it's pine cones. He will almost crash into the wall at my parent's condo complex to hit the pinecones. I think you're all NUTS. :P
